Slugs are androgynous: they bite off each other's genitals

Banana slugs have genitals that are six to eight inches long. Banana slugs are about eight inches long. Although the mollusk is hermaphroditic, its genitalia must match that of its mate. Once the organ becomes entangled with another slug, the banana slug at the receiving end starts munching on the genitalia of the other slug and escapes.
