Is the elephant pregnant for two years?

The gestation period of an elephant is almost 20-23 months. About two years or so, different elephants have a slightly different pregnancy cycle. The longest in pregnancy is the African elephant, the longest mammal in mammals. Moreover, elephants only produce one elephant every time, with a life span of 60-70 years. An elephant can only produce about 5-6 elephants in his lifetime.
