Only 3 of the 1,390 bat species eat blood, and only one of them targets mammals. All blood-eating bats are confined to Latin America and are not available elsewhere.
Why not call it a vampire bat? Because they don’t suck blood, they lick blood like kittens. The anticoagulant contained in its saliva prevents the blood from clotting, allowing it to eat smoothly. And this thing has been developed into drugs to prevent stroke.
So the claim that bats are vampires is false!
