Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) are responsible for bringing cholesterol to various tissues in the body. This lipoprotein stores cholesterol in blood vessels and causes blockages, hence the name “bad” cholesterol.

High-density lipoprotein (HDL) is responsible for bringing cholesterol to the liver, and they can also take away the cholesterol left in the blood vessels, so we call it “good” cholesterol.
