The st. Pauli district of the German port city of Hamburg is a tourist attraction. Fashionable bars, clubs, concert halls and squalid brothels attract 20m visitors a year. But local residents have been annoyed for years by many drunken partygoers who urinate in corners.
With little action being taken in the city, a residents’ committee decided to do something about the problem. They daubed their outer walls with super waterproof paint to make sure the urine splashed back onto the pants and shoes of the person who was urinating in the street.
