Although it sounds weird, socks are probably the oldest clothing still in use today. Socks have been around since the Stone Age, long before the concept of pants or T-shirts. Today it seems to be the most overlooked part of clothing.
The first knitted socks were made in ancient Egypt. The earliest known surviving knitted socks were made using a technique called naalbinding, which dates back to 300-500 AD and was found in Okhirinkus on the Nile in Egypt. The sock has a split toe that can be worn with sandals.
